Northwest Announces New Detroit Service

Northwest Airlines today announced new daily nonstop service between its
WorldGateway hub at Detroit and Shreveport, La. Two daily flights will
begin May 3.
“We welcome Shreveport as the 136th destination Northwest serves from
Detroit,” said Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink.
“This new, convenient service will link Shreveport with a leading business
destination while providing travelers with additional options to connect
to hundreds of cities worldwide, including Amsterdam, London, Paris and
Frankfurt.”

The new service complements Northwest’s three existing daily flights
between Shreveport and Memphis, Tenn.

“In today’s competitive environment the decision to expand air service is
not just about economics; it’s a statement about the strength and
potential that a company sees in a community. Northwest Airlines clearly
sees that potential here,” said U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.). “I
applaud the Shreveport Airport Authority, community and business leaders,
and the citizens of Shreveport-Bossier City for their commitment to
economic development.”

The new service will be operated with Northwest Airlink partner Pinnacle
Airlines Corp.‘s 44-50-passenger Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ). The CRJ
features a spacious cabin with comfortable two-by-two leather seating and
other cabin amenities similar to larger jets, such as overhead bins, a
galley, lavatory, and an efficient climate control system to ensure
passenger comfort.

The daily flights are now open for sale through http://www.nwa.com/ ,
Northwest Airlines Reservations at 1-800-225-2525 or through travel
agencies.
