Divi Carina Bay Casino brings Poker Mania to St. Croix

Divi Carina Bay Casino is proud to bring the explosion of poker mania to St. Croix, by hosting Bellagio’s World Poker Tour, March 10-12, 2004. The Tour is creating a buzz, captivating millions of poker enthusiasts on television weekly, through non-stop inquiries, and registrations. The Casino has already successfully hosted the Binion’s World Series of Poker, February 4-6, 2004.Both poker tours are satellite-qualifying tournaments, with the championship events taking place in April 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Binion’s event winner received US$10,000 entry seat at the World Series of Poker.

The winner of Bellagio’s super-satellite tournament will receive the US$2,500 entry into a satellite tournament, and could then win a $25,000 entry into their tournament. The winners of both events will receive a trip to the event, including airfare, room with events entry fee waived.

With a buy-in of only $100 and an entry fee of $25 for the World Series of Poker; and a buy-in of only $35 and an entry fee of $15 for the World Poker Tour, Divi Carina Bay Casino is sure to attract some of the territory’s top poker players as well as players from around the world.  One of the hallmarks of these satellite tournaments is that local players can try their hands against top pros, and a number of satellite players have made it to the final tables.

Last year’s World Series of Poker Winner, Chris Moneymaker, qualified through a $40 buy-in satellite poker tournament and walked away with $2.5 million, Alan Goehring took over $2.5 million home after winning the 2003 World Poker Tour! Divi Carina Bay Casino’s minimal entry fee will save satellite players the substantial championship event ($10,000 Binion’s and $2,500Bellagio) satellite entry fees.

Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, the poker game played in both events, has been added to the line-up of exciting table games. Practice live poker from 6pm to 2am.  Free Hold ‘Em Poker lessons will take place from 4:00 - 5:30pm daily.
