Asiana Adopts Amadeus Electronic Ticket Server

Asiana will offer its passengers the convenience of electronic ticketing, using Amadeus ETS.  Asiana, a pioneer in the field of electronic bookings in Asia, joins All Nippon Airways (ANA) and 9 other carriers globally, using Amadeus Electronic Ticket Server (ETS).
Amadeus ETS is a neutral IT application and database, with links to global distribution systems for travel agency distribution; to user airlines’ own sales and reservation offices for direct sales; and to airline alliance partners for interlining purposes. ETS eliminates the need for Asiana to build and maintain its own e-ticketing system.

Asiana, which carried some 12 million passengers in 2002, will benefit in the following ways from using Amadeus ETS:

? Passenger satisfaction will be enhanced, through the convenience of e-ticketing, which includes a faster ticketing and check-in process and the thrill of using a hassle-free e-ticket.

? Key time and cost savings will be achieved by both the airline and travel agents alike, when issuing tickets.

? Through ETS’ interlining capacity, Asiana can seamlessly exchange e-ticket coupons with previously appointed partner airlines, giving peace-of-mind to passengers on multi-leg trips
Offering the largest number of connections between mainland China and the rest of the world, Asiana’s recognised commitment to passenger service standards has prompted the deployment of this technology to make the difference in an extremely demanding competitive environment.

Mr. Arnold Choi, General Manager Internet Marketing Team, Asiana, said, “The implementation of Amadeus ETS offers our passengers faster check-ins, coupled with the flexibility, convenience and safety associated with e-ticketing.  Interlining offers the additional benefits of simplifying e-ticketing integration with our STAR ALLIANCE partners, and allowing passengers with complex travel itineraries involving multiple airlines, the convenience of using a single e-ticket.”

Mr. David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific, said, “By selecting Amadeus ETS, Asiana benefit from state-of-the-art technology at a fraction of the cost required to build and maintain its own e-ticketing system and from synergies between e-ticketing management and distribution.  Amadeus is helping Asiana to be a part of the rapid growth of e-ticketing globally and especially across Asia.”

Mr. Louis Lee, Director, Airline Business Group, Amadeus Asia Pacific, added, “Amadeus supports e-ticketing as the technology provider of choice to airlines, and fully manages and distributes electronic tickets for ten airlines including British Airways, Finnair, Golden Air, Lan Chile, Lan Peru, Southern Winds, All Nippon Airways, Aero Airlines, Qantas Airways, and Aer Lingus.”
