Jeff Kohl Elected to Second Term

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Jeff Kohl, director of spa operations for Princess Cruises, will serve a second term as president of the International SPA Association.  Kohl was elected during ISPA’s 12th Annual Conference in Anaheim, Calif.  Held Oct. 20 - 23, 2002, the Conference brought together more than 2,200 spa professionals from around the world.
An ISPA member since 1996, Kohl is a 15-year spa industry veteran.  “The release of ISPA’s most recent study confirms that the spa industry is exploding,” said Kohl.  “ISPA is the largest, most respected and best-known association for spa professionals.  I am honored to be leading this group for a second year.”
Under Kohl’s leadership, ISPA accomplished a number of goals this year.  The association continued its important goal of educating spa professionals with two key pieces of research, the ISPA 2002 Spa Industry Study and the ISPA 2001 Spa User Studies.  Plus, ISPA, along with its chapters in Europe and Asia Pacific, held three successful conferences in 2002, enforcing the global reach of the association.
Prior to his arrival at Princess Cruises, Kohl was the director of spa and recreation at the Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma, Calif.; PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Fla.; and Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Fla.
In addition to his involvement with ISPA, Kohl is also affiliated with the American College of Sports Medicine; American Council on Exercise; the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA); IDEA Foundation; the National Strength and Conditioning Association; and the United Way.
For 12 years, ISPA has been recognized worldwide as the leading professional organization and voice of the spa industry.  ISPA’s membership is comprised of nearly 2,000 health and wellness facilities and providers from 53 countries.  Since 1991, ISPA has been committed to forming and maintaining alliances that will educate, set standards, provide resources and build coalitions for the industry. ISPA’s vision is to revitalize humanity, and its mission is to educate the public about the value of the spa experience and engage its participation.
