A search operation is under way for a British woman after she is thought to have fallen overboard from a cruise ship in the Mediterranean.

The 52-year-old passenger, who had been sailing on the Aurora ship from Oporto in Portugal to Barcelona in Spain, has been reported missing.

P&O released a statement saying: “We can confirm a missing female presumed overboard from Aurora sailing from Oporto to Barcelona.

“The ship turned round to search for her and all relevant authorities have been advised.

“Our care team is supporting the family and offering assistance.”
