Avis expands operations in Taiwan with High Speed Rail deal

Avis Car Rental has further expanded its footprint in Taiwan by providing access to rental vehicles via the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) stations in the west of the country.

THSR is a high-speed rail line with eight stations that runs approximately 345 kilometres along the west coast of Taiwan, from the northern city of Taipei to the southern city of Kaohsiung.

THSR transported more than 44 million passengers in 2012.

Through this commercial partnership of Avis Taiwan and the Taiwan High Speed Railway, Avis is able to provide access to mobility solutions to those travelling from the northern city of Taipei to the western part of Taiwan and its suburbs, onto the southern city of Zuoying (Kaohsiung).

Avis Taiwan recently opened rental locations at six THSR stations, including: Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan and Zouying (Kaohsiung).

With these six new rental locations at the THSR stations, Avis now operates a total network of 20 service points, making Avis one of the fastest-growing car rental companies in Taiwan.

“Having these new locations in Taiwan is a fulfilment of our commitment to expand our global footprint and improve mobility within Taiwan since Avis launched operations last June.

“The HSR stations provide convenient pick-up points in Taipei for leisure and business travellers alike,” said Avis Budget Group president for Latin America & Asia Pacific, Patric Siniscalchi.
