Amadeus ties up deal with Cosmos

Amadeus has confirmed it will provide an integrated platform to bring together the booking of flights, rail and cruises at Cosmos, the UK’s largest independent tour operator.

The new unified system will offer a solid foundation for the company’s expansion plans for these areas.

Moreover, Amadeus argues the system change will benefit all areas of the business including the escorted touring division, Cosmos Tours & Cruises, as well as mainstream long haul brand, Cosmos Distant Dreams, both of which incorporate scheduled flights.

Rosie South, Cosmos’ head of scheduled flight operations, commented: “We are excited about the opportunities that this new technology platform offers our business and are already seeing dramatic time savings in the booking process which improves the service we provide to our customers.

“Being able to facilitate cruise sales into our core booking process with Amadeus is an important factor as we have aggressive growth plans in this area.

“Throughout the whole migration process, we have been pleased with the strong business partnership that has developed between the Amadeus and Cosmos project teams.”

The successful migration from the existing provider to Amadeus has involved close collaboration with key areas of the tour operator’s business and has been carefully project managed to cause minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

Commenting on the smooth transition to Amadeus technology, Scott Davies, commercial director, Amadeus UK said: “Our customer solutions and delivery team are very experienced at handling large-scale GDS migrations and integrating technology systems.

“We applaud Cosmos’ bold move in migrating their business across to Amadeus’ cutting-edge technology because it delivers genuine efficiencies to the company’s bottom line and helps the whole organisation work more effectively to increase sales and customer satisfaction.

“We look forward to seeing the partnership between our two companies go from strength to strength.”
