Abu Dhabi International Airport sees modest increase in passenger numbers

Abu Dhabi International Airport handled in excess of 2.2 million passengers in January, representing a 2.6 per cent increase in airport traffic compared with January 2016.

Aircraft movement at the capital’s airport also increased, up one per cent on same time last year with 14,666 take-offs and landings.

Total passenger traffic in January reached 2,209,515.

Traffic to and from India, one of the most popular routes to and from AUH, increased by two per cent in January versus the same month last year.

The UK was the second most popular route, increasing by 14.1 per cent this January compared to same month in 2016, mainly due to London passenger traffic which grew 23 per cent, due to the addition of a third daily Etihad A380 flight to the UK’s capital.
