A BOTANICAL SUMMER IN BRUSSELS

A BOTANICAL SUMMER IN BRUSSELS

As Brussels prepares to host its iconic Flower Carpet display, Hotel Amigo, a Rocco Forte hotel, announces Flower Cocktails at Bar Magritte, a new drinks list inspired by the world-famous floral masterpiece. The bi-annual event is a summer tradition in Brussels that sees the Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, transformed into a vibrant carpet-like tapestry of colourful blooms from 15th to 18th August.
At Hotel Amigo, just steps away from the Grand Place, the newly opened Bar Magritte, the world’s first bar dedicated to Belgian Surrealist genius René Magritte, has created four innovative cocktails crafted to incorporate the character of surrealism and the impressive Flower Carpet. Available until 31st August, Bar Manager Hassan Guilich has devised each drink to pay homage to this Brussels grand summer tradition through an array of seasonal flavours.

Guests can choose from:

La Vie En Rose: Sparkling with notes of rose and peach - a blushing nod to the romance of a rose garden. Vodka infused with hibiscus, vine peach liqueur, champagne, lemon juice, rose syrup
Purple Haze | Delicately sweet with a hint of sourness and a medley of hues inspired by Japan’s ephemeral sakura blossom. Roku gin, elderflower liqueur, butterfly pea tea, lime juice, passion syrup
Flower Power | Light, fresh, and aromatic. A nutty taste of almond with a South American journey. Cachaça, elderflower, grapefruit juice, lime juice, almond syrup
Garden of Eden (non-alcoholic) | Uplifting notes of yuzu meet sweet matcha and a twist of tarragon - an ethereal breeze on a sunny day. Yuzu gin 0%, apple juice, lemon juice, matcha syrup, egg white, tarragon leaf

Occurring every two years since its inception in 1971, this year marks a significant change in the renowned Brussels Flower Carpet as dahlias take centre stage for the first time, replacing the traditional begonias. The design of the 23rd edition is entrusted to street artist Océane Cornille, signifying a new era for the Flower Carpet, embracing a younger and more inclusive image.

On creating this exclusive cocktail menu, Hassan Guilich said “The inspiration behind this collection is rooted in the vibrant tradition of the Flower Carpet event, which celebrates the summer with breathtaking floral displays that adorn our city. Each cocktail aims to evoke the beauty and fragrance of these blooms - a sensory experience that mirrors the colourful and festive spirit of this unique Brussels tradition.”

The interiors also embrace the Surrealist theme with vibrant mural-like wallpaper reminiscent of the artist’s work.
