The WTTC Global Travel & Tourism is the most important event on the calendar for the industry’s big players. This year’s event takes on extra significance for one leader in particular – David Scowsill, who attends his first Summit as President & CEO of the WTTC.

Speakers and moderators of the highest calibre are set to take part in WTTC’s 11th Global Travel & Tourism Summit in Las Vegas. Highlights include Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO, Expedia; media mogul Ted Turner; Christopher Rodrigues of Visit Britain; Jeff Clarke, President & CEO, Travelport; Mark Frissora, Chairman & CEO, Hertz; Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman, Jumeirah Group The theme of this year’s event will be “Programme for Powering Global Growth” and includes a top line-up of speakers drawn from around the world and from many different industries and sectors.

Nearly 1,000 industry leaders will gather in Las Vegas from May 17th-19th to discuss, debate and define some of the key issues facing the travel and tourism industry, during the World Travel & Tourism Council’s 11th Global Travel & Tourism Summit. Held in conjunction with Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the summit will tackle some of the questions on everyone’s lips, with this year’s programme focused on ‘Powering Global Growth’.

Findings from new economic research in to business travel, commissioned by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), will be released, analysed and debated by industry leaders and experts during a dedicated business travel session set to take place during the 11th Global Travel & Tourism Summit in Las Vegas from May 17th–19th.

The World Travel & Tourism Council has announced the appointment of David Scowsill as its new president and chief executive. Formally starting in the role on November 15th, Scowsill will continue the organisation’s work to raise awareness of the importance of travel and tourism and its US$5.8 trillion value to the global economy.

The WTTC announced at World Travel Market that it is to hold its 10th Global Travel & Tourism Summit in Beijing, China. The Summit will be hosted by China National Tourism Administration and The People’s Government of the Municipality of Beijing, and take place 25-27 May 2010.
