Viking Ocean Cruises to triple size of new fleet
As a result of strong customer demand, Viking Ocean Cruises today announced it will launch two additional ocean ships, bringing the total number of ships in its new fleet to three. Viking Sea and Viking Sky will both debut in 2016 and will be sister ships to the 930-passenger Viking Star, which is currently under construction and will set sail in early 2015.

Viking Cruises cuts steel for Viking Star
Viking Cruises today announced it has cut steel in the construction of its first ocean cruise vessel, Viking Star, marking a major development toward the company’s ocean product. The steel cutting took place at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard outside Venice, Italy. Viking Star is scheduled to be delivered in early 2015, with maiden voyages beginning in April 2015.

Viking Cruises today announced the launch of its ocean product line, Viking Ocean Cruises, marking the introduction of the travel industry’s first new cruise line in nearly a decade. Developed from the ground up to return the focus of cruising to the destination, Viking Ocean Cruises will begin sailing in May 2015 with its first vessel—Viking Star—embarking on maiden voyages in Scandinavia and the Baltic; and the Western and Eastern Mediterranean.

Viking River Cruises today announced it has placed an order for 10 additional Viking LongshipsTM, bringing the total number of new ships launching next year to 10 and the number launching in 2014 to eight. The launch plan will easily surpass the industry record Viking set in 2012 with the introduction of six new ships in a single season. By the end of 2014 the company will have introduced a total of 24 new ships in a three-year period, a fleet expansion unprecedented in the cruise industry.

Viking River Cruises set for continued expansion
Viking River Cruises has confirmed it will launch as many as eight further longships in 2014, in addition to the ten scheduled to take to the water next year. “The river cruise segment is rapidly growing, as more travellers are inspired to experience old destinations in a new way,” Viking chairman Torstein Hagen explained.
