Putin lifts Russian tour operator ban on Turkish travel
Vladimir Putin has lifted sanctions on Russian travellers visiting Turkey. The Russian president effectively barred holidaymakers visiting the tourism hotspot last year after Turkey shot down a Russian military jet. Turkey had claimed the jet had violated its airspace.
Terror attack at Ataturk Airport, Turkey
A total of 41 people are now known to have died during a suicide bomb attack on Istanbul Ataturk Airport in Istanbul. Some 13 of those killed are believed to be foreign nationals, while a further 239 people were injured in the attack. Three attackers arrived in a taxi and began firing at the terminal entrance late on Tuesday evening.

The upscale hotel joins ten DoubleTree by Hilton properties already open in Turkey and 70 DoubleTree by Hilton properties open across Europe. Boasting 113 modern guest rooms and suites across six floors, the fully refurbished hotel is located in Sirkeci, a neighbourhood in Istanbul’s Historic Peninsula just a short stroll from some of Istanbul’s major attractions such as Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar.
