TUI UK & Ireland appoints new managing director
TUI UK & Ireland has announced that Nick Longman, currently managing director, distribution and online – mainstream, will be appointed as managing director of TUI UK & Ireland with effect from June 1st 2015. At the same time, David Burling moves to a larger role as managing director of Northern Region on the executive board of TUI Group, overseeing the UK and Ireland, Nordics, Canada and Russia.
TUI AG restoration of Castelfalfi nears completion
Despite international interest, Castelfalfi remained a dormant sleeping beauty until 2007, when European based tourist company TUI AG acquired the village and surrounding 2,700-acre estate with a vision of reviving the village in the most authentic way possible and transforming Castelfalfi into one of Italy’s finest leisure and vacation destinations.
Norwegian signs charter deals with TUI, Thomas Cook and Nazar
Low-cost carrier Norwegian has continued its cooperation with several big tour operators by entering new agreements with TUI, Thomas Cook and Nazar. The agreements mean that Norwegian will fly charter passengers to several destinations in the Mediterranean.
Carter moves up sales ladder at TUI UK & Ireland
TUI UK & Ireland has announced that Jill Carter has been appointed to the role of director of retail, with immediate effect. Carter, currently head of retail sales, will now lead the transformation of the retail business across the 649 shops in the UK & Ireland. Carter will report into customer operations director, Fraser Ellacott.
TUI Group narrows losses in first quarter
TUI Group has released its first set of quarterly results since the merger of TUI AG and TUI Travel last year, revealing it narrowed losses in the first quarter. The world’s largest travel group said underlying operating losses were reduced by €33 million to €108 million, when compared to the same period of last year.
