Taiwan Tourism Bureau expands free Wi-fi scheme
The Taiwan Tourism Bureau has announced changes to its popular iTaiwan free Wi-fi scheme, making it even easier for international tourists to take advantage of free Wi-fi while in the country. Taiwan became the first destination in the world to offer free wireless internet access to tourists last year and there are now over 5,100 hotspots in major tourist spots and transportation hubs across the country.
Taiwan on track to meet tourism target
The Far Eastern island of Taiwan is on track to reach its target of attracting ten million international visitors by 2016, following the arrival of the seven millionth visitor in December 2012. Lim Swee Chin from Malaysia was welcomed by Taiwanese officials upon her arrival to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on December 18th 2012 and was given gifts including free business class return-flights to the country, as well as complimentary accommodation, transport and gifts from Taiwan’s top ten tourist towns.
Taiwan tourism bureau and ECPAT Taiwan support the code
Over 60 participants from the Taiwan tourism industry, especially hotels and tour operators, attended a special one-day workshop on child protection as part of responsible tourism.
