Southwest Airlines and MGM Resorts International today launched a strategic marketing alliance between the companies’ loyalty rewards programs, Rapid Rewards and M life. Members of both programs now can accrue Rapid Rewards Points toward free flights for qualifying stays at MGM Resorts’ Las Vegas properties while enjoying VIP perks during their Vegas vacations.
Southwest Airlines to launch Boeing 737 MAX 7
Boeing and Southwest Airlines have announced the launch of the 737 MAX 7, the third member of the 737 MAX family. The Dallas-based carrier and launch customer for the 737 MAX program became the first airline to order the 737 MAX 7, when it converted 30 existing orders for Next-Generation 737s into orders for the 737 MAX 7.
Southwest Airlines announces new chief technology officer
Southwest Airlines today announced Craig Maccubbin will join the airline as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Vice President of Technology Operations, effective May 6, 2013. In his new position, Maccubbin will be responsible for the Technology Operations for the airline, which includes all current Infrastructure and Services areas and Mobile Platform.

A fresh face of Southwest Airlines is coming to a television near you! Today, the airline kicks off its new advertising campaign with TBWA\Chiat\Day—its first with the agency. Southwest worked with TBWA\Chiat\Day to build a campaign that tells the story of how Southwest became America’s Largest Domestic airline, while also featuring recent product improvements that include the Rapid Rewards program, inflight Wifi, Live TV, Evolve cabins, and the new 737-800 aircraft.

Southwest Airlines announced today that it has successfully completed the connection between the Southwest and AirTran networks. Customers are now able to purchase itineraries to the airlines’ combined 97 destinations, including international, in one transaction. The newly connected itineraries are on sale now via all Southwest and AirTran sales channels for service starting on April 14.
