Qatar Airways boosts capacity on Cape Town, South Africa, flights
Qatar Airways has increased daily capacity to the popular family holiday destination Cape Town, with the introduction of a Boeing 777 serving the route from this month. This means an additional 158 seats per day from Doha to Cape Town for passengers looking to enjoy South Africa’s holiday season.

Marriott International reveals plans for three Cape Town properties
Marriott International has revealed plans for the construction of three new hotel properties in Cape Town, in partnership with the Amdec Group. These will be three new hotels in the city: one under the company’s signature brand, Marriott Hotels, which will be the first Marriott Hotel in Cape Town; the second under the upscale extended stay brand, Residence Inn by Marriott, the first for South Africa; and the third the upper-moderate tier lifestyle brand, AC Hotels by Marriott, which is the first hotel under this brand for the Middle East & Africa region.
LATAM Airlines takes off for South Africa
The first LATAM Airlines flight to South Africa landed this afternoon at Johannesburg’s O. R. Tambo International Airport. Flight JJ8162 was operated by a Boeing 767 aircraft with 191 seats in Economy and 30 in Premium Business.
&Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge reopens in South Africa

Vote of confidence for South Africa tourism
South Africa’s hotel industry is set for steady growth in the next five years driven by an increase in the number of foreign visitors into the African continent. Pietro Calicchio, industry leader of hospitality and gambling, PwC Southern Africa explained: “Although the South African economy has weakened considerably, the overall outlook for hotels in South Africa is expected to remain positive.”
Emirates to deploy Airbus A380 on Johannesburg route
Emirates will be upgrading one of its four daily flights between Dubai and Johannesburg to an Airbus A380-800 from February 2017. Emirates currently uses Boeing 777 aircraft for each of the four daily flights between the two cities, making it the busiest route in the airline’s African network with over three million passengers carried in the last five years.
Lufthansa to resume Frankfurt-Cape Town flights in December
This winter Lufthansa will resume operation on the Frankfurt-Cape Town route. From December 2nd, a Lufthansa aircraft will take off from Frankfurt and fly non-stop to the port city at the foot of Table Mountain every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Emirates adds third daily Cape Town service
Emirates will introduce a third daily service between Dubai and Cape Town from July 4th. The new service will supplement the two current daily flights between the two cities to meet growing demand on the route, and offer outbound and inbound travellers even more convenience and choice.
