Qatar Airways touches down in Windhoek, Namibia
The capital of Namibia, Windhoek, has welcomed the first Qatar Airways flight to arrive at its international airport from Doha, Qatar. Windhoek is the first city in Namibia to be served by Qatar Airways, which will fly to and from the destination four times a week with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
IAG signs joint business agreement with Qatar Airways
International Airlines Group has announced a joint business agreement between British Airways and Qatar Airways which will start on October 30th. The joint business will benefit customers by providing better links between the UK, continental Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, with a greater choice of flights and enhanced frequent flyer benefits. Earlier this year Qatar Airways Group increased its stake in IAG to 20.01 per cent.

Sydney has become Qatar Airways’ first destination in Australia to be served by the super-jumbo A380 aircraft, just six months after it joined the carrier’s global network. Qatar to boost stopover potential with visa overhaul
Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Airways and Qatar’s ministry of interior have announced a revised tourism visa scheme available to passengers transiting through Doha in a move to promote Qatar as a world-class stopover destination. The new transit visa structure now allows passengers with a minimum transit time of five hours in Hamad International Airport, to stay in Qatar for up to 96 hours (four days), without the requirement to apply ahead of time for an entry visa.
Qatar Airways to boost capacity on South America routes
Qatar Airways will introduce additional capacity to its two South American gateways from December 1st, when the airline upgrades its existing aircraft operating on the route, a Boeing 777-200LR, to a Boeing 777-300ER. The upgrade to the Extended Range aircraft will provide an additional 99 seats per day from the airline’s capital in Doha to Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.

Qatar Airways announced today that it has signed a contribution and shareholders agreement with Alisarda, the parent company of Meridiana. The agreement provides for Qatar Airways to purchase 49 per cent of Meridiana fly’s shares, subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions, before the closing which is planned for early October.
