Qantas to expand Indian offering
Qantas has confirmed it is to launch Australia-Mumbai services from 2 June 2009. The airline, including Jetstar, will offer flights from seven Australian cities to Mumbai via Singapore.
Qantas downsizes Asian and New Zealand operations
Qantas is to cut underperforming routes to China and India, as well as passing its domestic New Zealand services to its low-cost offshoot Jetstar.The downsizing comes a few weeks after the Australian carrier posted a 66 per cent drop in first half profit to just 136 million US dollars. Jobs are expect to go although the airline has yet to give a figure.
Qantas to raise share capital as profits nosedive
Qantas has reported a 66 percent plunge in first-half profit as it paid high fuel charges and the financial downturn sent premium passenger numbers tumbling.The Australian carrier also announced plans to raise at least AU$500 million (US$315 million) in new capital via a share issue to pay off debt and fund new planes.
Qantas launches London A380 service
Qantas has extended its Airbus A380 network by launching flights between Sydney and London via Singapore. The airline will initially operate three A380 services each week on the Kangaroo Route.
Qantas gives A380 San Francisco debut
 Qantas became the first airline to operate the Airbus A380 on acommercial service to San Francisco, with the aircraft flying to the city as part of the annualG’Day USA promotion.
Qantas picks up second A380
Qantas has taken delivery of its second A380 aircraft in Toulouse, France. The Executive General Manager of Qantas, Mr John Borghetti, said the aircraft would arrive in Sydney tomorrow morning, 17 December, and begin operating services between Melbourne and Los Angeles and Sydney and Los Angeles on 22 December.
BA plans Qantas merger before Iberia
British Airways is planning to merge with Qantas before Iberia, according to The Times.The deal would involve the creation of a dual-listed corporate structure between itself and Qantas, followed by the merger with Iberia.
LAN Argentina and Qantas launch Sydney Buenos Aires codeshare service
LAN Argentina is to launch codeshare services in partnership with Qantas, with three new non-stop flights per week between Sydney and Buenos Aires.

Qantas will purchase 12 additional Bombardier 72- seat Q400 aircraft for QantasLink. The airline will also take options and purchase rights for another 24 Q400s.

More than 11,000 airline passengers have used their own mobile phones in-flight since the Qantas evaluation of AeroMobile commenced in April 2007.
