Cruise travel celebrated a banner year at Broward County’s Port Everglades in Fiscal Year 2011 (October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011) and containerised cargo climbed to its highest level since the global economic downturn in 2009, according to recently released year-end statistics for the South Florida seaport.
Bumper figures at Port Everglades show cruise holiday strength
Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has recorded an 18.4 per cent increase in multi-day cruise activity for the first six months of the 2011 fiscal year. In a statement to investors earlier, the port said 2.5 million cruise passengers embarked and debarked through the property for the period ending March 31st.
