Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways, both members of the quality airline alliance oneworld®, have come to an additional agreement to codeshare on flights operated by the latter via Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore to destinations in Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe.

BA in move to save JAL
British Airways has joined American Airlines and Qantas to try and save Japan Airlines from bankruptcy. The move follows news that Delta Airlines was also looking to inject cash into the ailing carrier and by doing so force it to exit the Oneworld Alliance, of which BA is a member.
American Airlines hit by continuing losses
American Airlines has reported deepening quarterly losses for the second consecutive year, as weak demand and falling fares drove sales sharply lower. Net quarterly losses, excluding non-recurring charges, sunk to $319m compared to a loss of $298m a year earlier. Group revenues in the second quarter fell 21 percent to $4.89bn and in the first six months by 18 percent to $9.7bn.
Finnair adds oneworld online booking facility
Finnair has enhanced the booking engine on its website to make it possible for travellers to make reservations on flights operated by all member airlines of the oneworld alliance.In the first phase, reservations can be made on flights operated by other oneworld partners and their subsidiaries only in connection with a Finnair flight.
oneworld reports record 25% revenue rise
oneworld partner airlines generated record revenues from the alliance’s sales activities in the past year, with interline revenues rising to US$2.4 billion, up 10 per cent year-on-year. Revenues from oneworld fares and sales activity rose US$850 million, a 25 per cent increase. These oneworld revenues grew significantly faster than member airlines’ overall passenger revenues, which collectively rose just 3.5 per cent.
