London 2012 ‘falling into place’

The International Olympic Committee has reported that “preparations are advancing at an astonishing rate” following the latest Coordination Commission visit to London. During the three-day visit, the Commission, led by Chairman Denis Oswald, received updates on the progress made since its last visit in July, and visited a number of venues, including Wembley Arena.

F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed the Black Sea Resort of Sochi will host a new Russian Grand Prix between 2014 and 2020. Ecclestone has been keen to expand the reach of F1 in recent years, with Singapore, China, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi all added to the calendar.
