Viking Announces Float Out of Newest Nile River Ships

Viking® today announced its two newest ships for the Nile River—the Viking Ptah and the Viking Sekhmet—have been “floated out,” marking a major construction milestone and the first time the ships have touched water. Viking® (www.viking.com) has named its newest river ships, the Viking Hathor and the Viking Sobek, with a special celebration in Luxor, Egypt on 5 November. The Hon. Edward Herbert served as ceremonial godfather of the Viking Hathor; his great-great-grandfather, the 5th Earl of Carnarvon, was Howard Carter’s benefactor and co-explorer, whose excavation uncovered the tomb of King Tutankhamen near Luxor almost exactly 102 years ago on 4 November, 1922.

TUI River Cruises unveils its new venues onboard the fully refurbished five-star ship, TUI Al Horeya, which is due to set sail on its maiden voyage this November on the river Nile. The TUI Al Horeya will be equipped with 74 cabins to house 145 guests per sailing, and it has been designed with flexibility and choice in mind to cater for all customer’s needs. The ship’s new venues echoes that personal choice for the customer with its hybrid multi-functional Top Deck, which is home to a swimming pool and two hot tubs by day, and al fresco dining space, Felucca, by night.
