Lufthansa launches first flight from Munich to Central America. The new route will be operated from 26 March 2012 by an Airbus A340-600. From that date on, Mexico City will be served five times a week from Munich, supplementing the daily flights already operated by Lufthansa from Frankfurt.

Etihad Airways – recognised as the World’s Leading Airline by the World Travel Awards - has announced the start of flights to Nairobi, its first destination in East Africa. A daily service from Abu Dhabi to Nairobi will begin on April 1st next year, operated by a two class A320 aircraft with 16 Pearl Business class and 120 Coral Economy seats.

Turkish Airlines,  will add its 7th Italian destination, Turin, on August 2, 2011. The airline will fly three times weekly from its hub in Istanbul, Ataturk Airport, departing on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and operating according to the attached schedule. Turkish Airlines was last year recognised as offering the World’s Leading Airline Business Class by the prestigious World Travel Awards.

Qatar Airways has further expanded its rapidly growing global network with the launch yesterday of daily flights to Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, India’s second largest city and to many, its cultural and intellectual capital.

Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways today each released flight schedules for January 8, 2012, through March 9, 2012.
