In April, NATS handled 212,675 flights in UK airspace, an increase of just under two per cent compared to April last year. There was growth in most areas of the operation, in particular in transatlantic and non-transatlantic international overflying traffic.

Last year was the busiest on record for air traffic across the UK, according to NATS. It was the first time traffic levels were higher than 2007, the previous peak year prior to the banking crisis and subsequent economic downturn.
