Douglas Elliman has announced the sale of Miami Beach’s Clinton Hotel for $28.5M. The commercial division for the national real estate firm, lead in the South Florida market by David Restainer as Douglas Elliman Commercial Florida, was named exclusive broker to market this historic Art Deco property in 2014 and ushered the transaction to closing with a familiar buyer and Maryland-based seller.

The International Air Transport Association has announced that US secretary of transportation Anthony Foxx will deliver a keynote address at the 71st IATA Annual General Meeting today. Up to 1,000 delegates are expected to attend the global event hosted in Miami by American Airlines, FedEx, UPS and Airlines for America. “Miami will be the capital of the global air transport industry next week as its most senior leaders gather to discuss critical issues such as safety, security, sustainability, meeting passenger demands and revitalizing the air cargo sector,” said Tony Tyler, IATA director general.

Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau president William Talbert has announced overnight visitors to Greater Miami & the Beaches for calendar year 2013 surpassed another benchmark with a record-breaking 14.2 million overnight visitors, a 2.2 per cent increase over 2012. “This is the first time the destination has welcomed more than 14 million overnight visitors and marks the fourth consecutive year of record-breaking overnight visitors to the destination,” explained Talbert.

Miami International Airport ended 2013 by reaching the 40-million passenger mark for the first time in the airport’s 85-year history and setting a new record for annual passengers for the fourth year in a row. Since 2010, when MIA hit the 35.7 million passenger mark for the first time, annual passenger traffic at the airport has increased by more than 12 per cent.

Overnight visitors to Greater Miami and the Beaches increased by 3.5% to a record-breaking 13.9 million overnight visitors in 2012, fueled by a 5.2% increase to a record 6.8 million international visitors and an increase of 1.8% to a record 7.1 million domestic visitors, according to Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB).
