Aloft Hotels to debut in the Emerald Isle with Dublin property
Marriott International has revealed plans to launch its ever-popular Aloft Hotels brand in Ireland through a franchise agreement with Blackpitts Hospitality. Slated to open in the spring of 2018, Aloft Dublin City will mark the tech-forward brand’s debut in the Irish capital, and will introduce an exciting accommodation option in Dublin’s historic ‘Liberties’ quarter.

In line with its growth strategy, Finnair has announced that it will be adding capacity between and Ireland and Finland across the 2017 winter and summer seasons. Due to high demand, Finnair will add an additional weekly frequency between Dublin and Helsinki for the winter 2017 season.

Cornwall Airport adds Cork flights for summer 2017
Cornwall Airport Newquay has announced another development within its route network just one week into 2017, confirming that Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, will launch a new connection to Cork. Set to commence on May 6th, the twice-weekly seasonal service will utilise the carrier’s 72-seat ATR-72, adding 35 flights to CAN’s summer schedule.

The Guinness Storehouse saw a new record for visitor numbers in 2016, with a ten per cent increase in arrivals. Some 1,647,408 guests passed through its doors in the last 12 months. The increase mirrors current trends in Irish tourism, which has seen a bumper 2016.

Aer Lingus Regional launches Southampton-Cork route
Aer Lingus Regional has launched flights from Southampton Airport to Cork Airport in the south of Ireland. The new route, operated by Stobart Air, will operate up to five times weekly. Located on the south-west coast of Ireland, Cork is the second largest city and is a cosmopolitan city full of culture, colour and variety with plenty to do for a weekend break or an extended summer holiday.
Record visitor numbers for Guinness Storehouse in Ireland
The Guinness Storehouse is celebrating a record number of visitors for 2015 as 1,498,124 guests passed through its doors over the last 12 months, breaking the previously held record of 1,267,807 in 2014. This represents an 18 per cent increase on the 2014 visitor numbers and sees the Home of Guinness retaining its position as Ireland’s number one international visitor attraction.
Finnair to boost capacity on Helsinki-Dublin route
Finnair has announced that, due to passenger demand, it is adding an additional 1,800 seats between Dublin and Helsinki, in Finland, in summer 2016. The route, which launched in April 2015 with a flight time of just three hours, connects Dublin with Helsinki, which is one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in Northern Europe.

The Guinness Storehouse, the Home of Guinness and Ireland’s number one international visitor attraction, has celebrated its 15th anniversary. Since opening its doors in 2000, the Guinness Storehouse, a seven-storey treasure trove of all things Guinness, has welcomed almost 14 million visitors.
Ireland sees record visitor numbers in first half of 2015
Figures from the Ireland’s Central Statistics Office indicate this was the best ever January to June period for overseas visitors to the country, with almost 3.9 million arrivals recorded. Overseas visitor numbers have increased by 11.7 per cent over the first half in 2014 – an additional 407,100 visitors.
Irish Rail reveals ambitions for Dublin Airport
Irish Rail has revealed plans to run trains direct from Dublin Airport to Cork, Galway and Belfast. Irish Rail chief executive, David Franks, said the development could cost as little as €300m, while offering a significantly boosting tourism.
