IATA 2011: New EU emissions charges are “illegal”
The International Air Transport Association has stepped up its war of words with the European Union by describing plans to charge the industry for emissions as “illegal”. The new legislation, which comes into effect on January 1st 2012, will see airlines forced to buy permits for carbon emissions above a certain level.

Rising fuel prices dampening air travel, says IATA
Rising fuel prices are starting to dampen air travel demand, according to the latest report from IATA, but business travel is maintaining a strong recovery. Economy travel slowed from 4.9% year over year growth in January to 3.3% in February. Premium travel was more robust, slowing from 8.1% to 7.7% over the same periods.
