Five years after the collapse of Project Jupiter, another attempt has begun to transform Eurostar from an unincorporated tri-national partnership into a single coherent entity. The operator confirmed last month that negotiations were underway to position the business ready for the introduction of competition in the international passenger sector from January 1 2010.

Eurostar, the provider of high-speed, carbon neutral rail journeys between the UK and the Continent, has been recognised as the top train operator in this year’s Superbrands UK. The survey* - which identifies the UK’s strongest consumer brands - is drawn up by the Centre for Brand Analysis. This year, Eurostar was placed 52nd in the top 500 Superbrands (up from 67th last year), making it the top train brand in the UK.

Eurostar, the high-speed provider of carbon neutral rail journeys between the UK and the continent, is starting its weekly direct service on Saturday 11 July to Avignon, in the heart of the Provence region of southern France. It will be the eight successive year Eurostar will be running the service which takes less than six hours from London St Pancras International (and less than five and a half hours from Ashford International). Tickets are available from £99 return in standard class and £249 in Leisure Select.
