Brussels Airport is making significant strides towards its goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 by doubling its solar energy capacity. The airport is investing in green energy infrastructure, particularly solar power, with the installation of solar panels covering 65,000 square meters in the cargo zone’s newest buildings.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) started its cargo operations at Brussels Airport on 4 September 1988. This year, SIA has been operating full freighter flights at Brussels Airport for 35 years, making them the longest operating cargo airline at the airport. Known for their “round the world” cargo flights, customer centricity and smooth operations, SIA is a key partner for Brussels Airport. In 2025 they plan to start operations with the new Airbus A350 freighter, the most sustainable freighter aircraft.

Last week and according to annual tradition the Brussels Airport Aviation Awards were presented. With these awards, Brussels Airport wanted to honour airlines and partners who in 2022 have excelled in the area of punctuality and performance, network development and safety and environment. 11 awards were presented during a live partner event.
