British Airways is to launch new services between London Heathrow and Las Vegas from October. The daily service will be operated by a three class Boeing 777 offering new Club World with fully flat beds.

In a competition run by British Airways, Dublin Trinity College student Dara Fahy came up with the winning name for the Boeing 747 taking the players, coaches and support staff to Johannesburg on Sunday 24 May.

Merger talks between British Airways and Iberia are making little headway despite reassurances from both sides of an imminent tie-up, according to sources within both airlines.The number of problems to be resolved before the merger can proceed is far bigger than the respective heads Willie Walsh and Fernando Conte have revealed. UK government clears BA for Spanish relocation

The UK government would not hinder British Airways becoming a Spanish company as a result of a merger with Iberia, according to Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon. With BA and Iberia close to agreeing merger terms, it is thought that the airlines would continue to operate as separate brands under a new operating company. However, it is unclear whether this parent company would be based in Spain or in Britain.
