British Airways signs up GB hopefuls for 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games
British Airways, the official airline partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has signed up snowboarders Ben Kilner and Zoe Gillings - two of TeamGB’s best hopefuls for the forthcoming 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.
British Airways launches winter flights to Innsbruck
British Airways has just launched its new flight service to Innsbruck. The five-a-week service to the former Winter Olympic city is the fifth new route to be launched by British Airways from Gatwick this winter. During the winter schedule, the airline will depart London Gatwick five times weekly on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Bermuda goes upmarket
Bermuda is set to go upmarket with the opening of a number of international luxury hotels next year. The first international five-star property to open on the island will be a Park Hyatt, followed by a St Regis in the capital, Hamilton, and a Four Seasons Hotel.
JAL to share BA lounges at London Heathrow
Japan Airlines is to share British Airways new lounges - Galleries First and Galleries Club - at London Heathrow Terminal 3 from 14 December, when JAL will close its own separate First Class and executive class Sakura Lounges.
British Airways traffic and capacity statistics - November 2009
In November 2009, passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was 6.2 per cent below November 2008. Traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, fell by 4.3 per cent. This resulted in a passenger load factor increase of 1.5 points versus last year, to 75.9 per cent.
British Airways increases flights to Grenada
British Airways has doubled the frequency of its flights to Grenada from one to two services a week with the launch of the new summer schedule on March 28, 2010.
BA reignites talk of Qantas tie-up
The planned merger between British Airways and Iberia could pave the way for possible tie-up with Qantas, according to the airline’s chief executive Willie Walsh. British Airways is adding an additional flight to Shanghai this December, taking the number of services from five to six flights a week as of December 4, 2009.
BA cabin crew vote over Christmas strike
British Airways’ cabin crew began voting today over Christmas strike action in protest against new employment rules that include a two-year pay freeze, reduced holidays and fewer benefits. The ballot, which is open to all BA’s 14,000 cabin crew, closes on December 14 and could result in industrial action starting 21 December.
