The board of Boeing has declared the company’s quarterly dividend will increase 20 per cent to $2.055 per share. The board also replaced the existing share repurchase program with a new $20 billion authorisation, up from the $18 billion approved last December.

Boeing has delivered the first 737 MAX to Fiji Airways, which plans to use the longer-range version of the plane to modernise its single-aisle fleet. Fiji Airways plans to take delivery of five MAX 8 airplanes, which will build on the success of its fleet of Next-Generations 737s.

The carrier, which has long operated the Next-Generation 737, will take delivery of 12 MAX airplanes in the coming years. The airline commemorated the selection of the MAX during a ceremony featuring national dignitaries, including the prime minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Keith Rowley, and Caribbean Airlines chief executive, Garvin Medera.
