China Eastern to join SkyTeam
China Eastern Airlines today announced its intention to join the SkyTeam Airline Alliance. During an official ceremony in Shanghai, China Eastern President and Chief Executive Officer Ma Xulun joined the CEOs of SkyTeam member airlines to sign a Memorandum of Understanding confirming China Eastern’s plans to join the SkyTeam Alliance by mid-2011.
Ash cloud costing TUI £6 million per day
The disruption due to the ash cloud has cost the travel group TUI £20m so far. Europe’s largest tour operator said about 100,000 of its customers remain stranded overseas due to the widespread closure of airspace across northern Europe since last Thursday. Estimated daily costs while the choas continues will run at approximately £5m- £6m.

Flybe update on volcanic ash disruption
Due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland, the official closure of English air space and following continuing advice from National Air Traffic Services and the Met Office, in the interest of safety, Flybe has now cancelled all of its flights to and from England, the Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey, up until 0100 on Saturday morning April 17th.
