Elias Elia, the owner of E-Clear, the online transactions company linked to the collapse of the Globespan airline, has broken his silence over his company’s position, saying that his firm was not responsible for the airline’s collapse, and that he was getting on “extremely well” with administrators.

Administrators for Globespan have asked its credit card transactions firm to put £35m of owed money into a joint bank account, following claims it had caused the collapse of Scotland’s largest airline by stalling on payments. E-Clear’s owner, Greek travel industry entrepreneur Elias Elia, is also the owner of Allbury Travel, which also collapsed at the weekend.

A second UK travel company collapsed over the weekend leaving travellers stranded abroad and up to 4,000 forward bookings. Allbury Travel, owner of Greek specialist operators Libra Holidays, Argo Holidays and Jetlife, went into administration on Saturday.
