Wego Data Reveals How Saudi Travellers Are Planning Their Summer Holidays

Recent travel data has revealed the top destinations attracting travellers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the Summer 2026 season. Türkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Morocco, and Jordan topped the list of the most searched destinations, while Vietnam is the fastest-rising destination, with searches up 30% year-on-year. This reflects travellers’ preference for destinations that combine convenience, strong connectivity, and diverse experiences.

According to data from Wego, the number one travel app and the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), travellers from the Kingdom continue to plan their summer holidays based on key criteria, including convenience, direct flight connectivity, a wide variety of cultural, leisure, and nature experiences, as well as flexible planning options that cater to different travel preferences.

Regional Destinations

The data showed that regional destinations continue to maintain their position among the most popular choices for travellers from the Kingdom, thanks to their convenient flight connections, straightforward travel planning, and the diverse experiences they offer.

Many of these destinations also benefit from streamlined entry requirements, making the travel planning process even more convenient for travellers from the Kingdom.

Long-Haul Holidays

Beyond regional travel, Saudi travellers continue to show strong interest in longer international holidays, with destinations across Southeast Asia and Europe remaining popular during the summer season.

Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and China featured prominently among international searches, reflecting demand for destinations that offer a combination of value, diverse experiences, and opportunities for extended stays during the summer break.

Vietnam is the fastest-rising destination for Saudi travellers this summer, with searches up 30% year-on-year. It is followed by China, with Saudi searches up 9%.

The data also highlighted differences in travel planning patterns across destinations, with travellers tending to plan longer holidays for long-haul destinations, while preferring greater flexibility when travelling to nearby markets, reflecting their varying approaches to planning their summer holidays.

Commenting on the findings, Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said: “Saudi travellers are approaching summer travel with a clear focus on convenience, value, and meaningful experiences. We’re seeing strong interest in destinations that are easy to reach, offer excellent connectivity, and provide a wide variety of experiences for families, couples, and groups of friends. While ease of travel remains an important consideration, travellers are ultimately choosing destinations that allow them to make the most of their time away, whether that’s exploring vibrant cities, enjoying nature, or discovering new cultures.”

The travel data shows that destinations offering direct flight connectivity, simplified travel requirements, and a diverse tourism offering continue to attract strong interest from Saudi travellers.

As the summer travel season progresses, destinations that combine accessibility with memorable experiences are expected to remain among the most sought-after choices for travellers from the Kingdom.
