THOR Inc., a travel services company that provides sales, marketing, preferred services and products to the world’s leading travel providers, announces today the new THX Promotional Rate access code to allow member travel agents to search for hotels that specifically want to offer more than just a standard consortia rate. The THX Promotional Rate will complement THOR’s already existing THR Consortia Rate access code and will be available for travel agents to use as of January 1, 2011.

“We are excited to offer our member travel agents with a way to book promotional hotel rates in all Global Distribution Systems (GDS),” said Lisa Larson, agency account manager, THOR, Inc. “THOR member travel agents can now search for promotional hotel rates that include additional amenities, increased commissions, free room upgrades, special packages, and more, all on THOR’s promotional rate access code. Plus, regardless of the offerings, these rates will always be commissionable.”

Since THOR began the THOR Worldwide Hotel Program in1983, it has offered its member travel agents the THR Consortia Rate access code to book discounted and commissionable rates in the GDS. While this has not changed, adding the additional THX Promotional Rate access code will provide a more efficient way for THOR’s member travel agents to gain access to promotional rates, while also offering an easier means for hotels to provide special short-term incentives, discounts, packages, and added room amenities that are above and beyond the standard consortia rate.

Over the past few years the industry has seen new rate access codes become available as travel companies work to build loyalty. THOR’s new rate access code delivers a well deserved timesaver. Not only does THOR deliver new efficiencies, but also improves the ability to provide more leisure-oriented rate offerings and build loyalty in the process for their 2011 THOR Worldwide Hotel Program.

THOR will be providing further information in December and throughout the New Year to its member travel agents on how to book the THX Promotional Rate access code, as well as providing the necessary rate loading information to the hotels and suppliers that wish to participate.
