THE UNBOUND COLLECTION BY HYATT WELCOMES ITS FIRST HOTEL IN THAILAND, THE BARAI HUA HIN
Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced the opening of THE BARAI HUA HIN, marking the debut of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Thailand.
Set along the historic Khao Takiap coastline in Hua Hin, a favored seaside destination for generations of Thai royalty, the 98-room beachfront resort brings together standout wellness tradition, locally-inspired design and the spirit of Sanook (สนุก) – the Thai expression for the joy of living.
MODERN WELLNESS ON A HISTORIC COAST
Long before the concept of the ‘wellness retreat’ swept the world, Hua Hin was already a place of restoration. Once a quiet fishing village known as Ban Samor Riang, the destination became a beloved seaside escape for Siamese nobility in the early 20th century. Its picturesque shorelines, warm sea breeze and gentle Gulf of Thailand tides shaped an easy-going elegance that still defines the coast today.
Drawing on this legacy, THE BARAI HUA HIN first opened as a spa 20 years ago, earning a global reputation for fusing Thai healing traditions with modern Western wellness. Now expanded into a boutique resort, the reimagined property offers a restorative sanctuary grounded in classic Thai hospitality.

“At THE BARAI HUA HIN, every stay is designed to unfold at the guest’s own rhythm,” said Marco Avitabile, General Manager of THE BARAI HUA HIN. “Our philosophy is rooted in Sanook, the belief that joy, ease and delight should be part of life’s most meaningful moments. Whether guests come for deep rest, movement, spa rituals, culinary discovery or time by the sea, we invite them to experience renewal in a way that feels personal, memorable and entirely their own.”
Guests can also explore the wild beauty of Kui Buri National Park, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, and Phraya Nakhon Cave before returning each day to a sanctuary designed for quiet reconnection.
ARCHITECTURE OF TRANQUILITY
The design of THE BARAI HUA HIN and its spa draw on the elemental forces of water, fire, earth and air. Architect Lek Mathar Bunnag reinterprets Thai heritage through a bold, contemporary lens, using shaded corridors, sculptural forms, tranquil courtyards and water features to invite a slower, more reflective state.
The resort’s two pools further express its dialogue between nature and design. This includes the Forest Pool, a shaded lagoon-like setting at the heart of the resort and the Beach Pool, an oceanfront counterpoint overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
ROOMS FOR RESTORATION, OPEN TO NATURE
The resort comprises 98 guest rooms and suites, including 27 suites and a pair of two-bedroom penthouses, each designed to frame the lush tropical setting. Open living spaces, expansive private balconies, deep soaking tubs and rainforest showers create a generous sense of luxury.
Higher-category suites include butler service, expansive terraces, in-suite rituals and daily massage inclusions for guests seeking an added level of privacy and personalization.
ELEMENTS OF WELLNESS
At the center of the resort, THE BARAI Spa takes its name from ancient barays, reservoirs that once sustained daily life in the ancient empires. Here, pools, courtyards, stone passageways and quiet spaces are designed to slow the breath and heighten the senses.
Wellness extends to the two-story Wellness Hub which includes a 24-hour fitness studio, yoga studio, holistic zone and wellness shop. Programs are anchored in the resort’s elemental philosophy, inviting guests to explore Earth for grounding, Water for release, Air for vitality and Fire for momentum.
Signature wellness pathways include Women’s health, sleep recovery, back care, longevity, emotional wellbeing and heart health, each incorporating a personalized wellness map. The Wellness Hub is guided by CM.D. Chuthamat Srinoi, known as Dr. Cash, an integrated wellness practitioner whose work brings together traditional Chinese medicine, sound vibration, energy healing and mindful art.
DINING WITH A SENSE OF HUA HIN HERITAGE
THE BARAI HUA HIN offers two distinctive dining destinations led by Chef Benn Rowe, whose career spans notable kitchens across Australia and Thailand. His menus celebrate coastal abundance, seasonal produce and the convivial pleasure of dining well by the sea.
White Cottage nods to the seaside summer houses once built by Siamese nobility and to Ban Chom Khluen, meaning “Seeing the Wave,” whose preserved timbers were reassembled into the cottage guests experience today. The restaurant serves breakfast before transitioning into a refined dining destination focused on fresh seafood, plant-forward dishes and Thai-inspired flavors.
McFarland House occupies a beautifully restored 19th-century beachfront pavilion overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. Once the seaside retreat of Dr. George Bradley McFarland, a pioneering figure in Thailand’s medical and educational history, the venue now offers Modern European cuisine, grilled meats, weekday afternoon tea and one of Hua Hin’s most celebrated Sunday brunches.
THE UNBOUND COLLECTION BY HYATT IN THAILAND
The opening of THE BARAI Hua Hin, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, further expands the brand’s portfolio of independent, one-of-a-kind hotels—each distinguished by its character, individuality, and deep connection to its surroundings. As the brand’s first property in Thailand, the resort brings a new wellness story to the collection, shaped by architecture, heritage, nature and the joyful Thai spirit of Sanook.
The brand is expected to continue its global growth this year with Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic and The Clayfield in Canada.
