Thailand’s top golfing resorts recognised by World Travel Awards

Thailand is home to some of the most magnificent golfing ranges in the world. In recent years a significant investment has been made in the golfing sector, with new golf courses opening and tour operators offering dedicated golfing holidays.

At the World Travel Awards Asia and Australasia gala ceremony set to place in Bangkok on Wednesday, some of the leading lights of the golfing world will be present to find out which of Thailand’s hotels will win the title of ‘Thailand’s Leading Golf Resort’.

Thailand has set itself out as one of the top golfing holiday destinations in Asia, with over 260 golf courses, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

TAT recently surveyed over 3,389 tourists from 68 countries, and their findings were that Thailand’s beaches and islands are the biggest draw, with golf also proving very popular.

Destination diversity and the vast choice of golf courses located throughout the country could help to explain why so many visitors are drawn to the golfing facilities in Thailand.

From the beach resorts in the south such as Phuket, to the mountainous surroundings in the north, or the bustling cities of Bangkok and Pattaya, there are golfing ranges to suit all needs.

In recent years, the availability of golf has developed significantly, as evidenced by the number of golfing resorts that have been nominated by the World Travel Awards.

With modern facilities, internationally designed golf courses, and an excellent infrastructure, Thailand has hosted world class golf tournaments attracting such players as Tiger Woods,
Ernie Els, and Colin Montgomerie to name but a few.
