Somabay to Host World Aquatics Open Water World Cup Events for Third Consecutive Year

Somabay is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the World Aquatics Open Water World Cup 2025, building on the success of the last two years. This year Somabay will be hosting three races in its crystal-clear waters, cementing its position as one of Egypt’s leading watersports destinations.
The competition will kick off on the 21st of February with the men’s and women’s 10km races, followed by the mixed relay competition on the 22nd of February, with participants from 21 countries. Athletes will have access to the new OneFlow Aquatics Centre Olympic pool in the Soma Sports Arena, with regular shuttles running from The Sheraton Soma Bay Resort – the official event hotel – allowing participants to train in state-of-the-art facilities.

Following successful editions in 2023 and 2024 as part of the World Aquatics Festival (WAF), this year will see the destination launch the 2025 season, further building on Somabay’s position at the heart of the swimming scene in Egypt.
The recent launch of the OneFlow Aquatics Centre further enhances Somabay’s standing as a leading watersports destination, making it a perfect choice for international swimming training camps and sporting events. Featuring an Olympic-sized pool, a five-lane training pool, and a fully equipped indoor gym, the centre provides top-tier facilities to support and elevate swimmers’ performance.
