After a week of record-breaking temperatures across Europe, and as the UK faces their return next week, leading online travel agent Opodo (part of eDreams ODIGEO) shares brand new data that reveals our growing interest in finding coolcation escapes.

Opodo analysed search data from last week for summer travel from the UK to seven popular European ‘coolcation’ destinations and found that interest has spiked when compared to just the week before.

For searches made between 21st – 25th June compared to those made between 16th – 20th June, the data shows bounces across the board:
Gothenburg: +33%
Stockholm: +22%
Zurich: +20%
Geneva: +20%
Oslo: +18%
Innsbruck: +14%
Salzburg: +5%
Globally, bookings are also up:
Oslo: +42%
Stockholm: +19%
Geneva: +19%
Zurich: +9%

Data scope: Analysing UK searches and global bookings made between 21st – 25th June 2026 versus 16th – 20th June 2026, looking at travel between 25th June and 31st August to Zurich, Stockholm, Geneva, Oslo, Innsbruck, Salzburg, and Gothenburg.
