Rezidor and Winn announce the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg, Sweden

The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel companies worldwide, and Winn Hotel Group announce the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg in Sweden. The property featuring 266 rooms is scheduled to welcome the first guests in Q1 2013.

“This signing brings our portfolio in the Nordics to 65 hotels with 15,000 rooms in operation and under development – over 4,000 of these rooms are located in Sweden”, said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “We are delighted to realize this new project in cooperation with Winn, a well-trusted and long-term partner of Rezidor”, added Ritter. Winn also operates Rezidor’s hotels Park Inn Solna, Park Inn Uppsala, the future Radisson Blu Uppsala (expected to open in 2012) and the recently signed Park Inn hotels in Lund and Helsingborg (expected to open in 2013) under franchise agreements. The new Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg will be developed and owned by Skanska, one of the world’s largest construction companies.

The Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg will be situated by the Lindholmen Science Park just outside the city centre and directly on the waterfront – on the North bank of the Gothia River. “Lindholmen Science Park located in the old wharf area of Gothenburg is today one of the fastest developing business areas in Sweden. More than 18,000 people work and study in this cluster of more than 275 companies growing by the day. There is a great need for a hotel, and the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel Gothenburg, a fantastic asset, is much awaited”, said Anders Junger, President & CEO of Winn Hotel Group.

The new hotel will be located at a 10 minutes drive away from Rezidor’s existing hotel in town, the 349-room Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel Gothenburg. Besides 266 elegant guest rooms and suites featuring Radisson Blu signature services such as free high speed internet access, the property will offer a contemporary restaurant and bar, 150 square metres of meeting space, a heavenly spa with indoor pool, sauna, gym and treatment rooms, and next door parking.

Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city. Its port is the largest in Scandinavia and an important regional hub for shipping and trade. Also known for its manufacturing and industry, Gothenburg is home to major plants for Volvo, Ericsson and SKF (industrial products). High tech companies are increasingly replacing more traditional manufacturing firms, and finance and tourism are also key employers.
