Sofitel Dubai Downtown has announced Ammar Hilal has been appointed as general manager of the hotel.

Hilal has a rich background in hospitality across the globe – in eight countries on four continents within luxury brands.

Prior to joining Sofitel Dubai Downtown, he was hotel manager at the Burj Al Arab for a number of years.

His diverse experience will add to the dynamic of the Sofitel Dubai Downtown.

“It is an honour to be the general manager for this flagship property for Sofitel Luxury Hotels in the region,” said Hilal.

“Sofitel Dubai Downtown is a magnificent hotel which has managed to become one of the premier addresses in Downtown Dubai within its first year of operation and we will continue to focus on enhancing the guest experience.

“Part of that will be the launch of new food and beverage concepts from September onwards that will amplify the hotel’s gastronomy offerings.”

Olinda Morais has also joined the hotel as director of sales and marketing.

Olinda has over 15 years of international experience in the hospitality industry.

Prior to joining Sofitel Dubai Downtown, Olinda was director of sales, MICE, corporate, government and conversion at Madinat Jumeirah.

Sofitel Dubai Downtown is located in the heart of Downtown Dubai, connected to Dubai Mall and offers impressive views of the iconic Burj Khalifa and the downtown area.

The hotel celebrated its first year of operations with a number of successes including the title of UAE’s Leading New Hotel at the World Travel Awards.
