Michalopoulos takes up chief commercial role with Wizz Air

Wizz Air has rejigged its leadership team, with George Michalopoulos promoted to the position of chief commercial officer, effective from September 1st, 2016.

In his new role, Michalopoulos will be reporting to József Váradi, chief executive officer.

Michalopoulos joined Wizz Air in 2010 as head of pricing and revenue management and was then promoted to head of network development, scheduling and sales in May 2015.

Prior to WIZZ, Michalopoulos, 35, built an extensive commercial and revenue management career at Flybaboo and Blu-Express.

Michalopoulos is a Swiss, British and Greek citizen and holds both bachelor and master of science degrees in management science and engineering from Stanford University.

In his new assignment, Michalopoulos will be replacing György Abrán, who after 12 years with Wizz Air has decided to leave the company from September 2016.
