Kenya Tourist Board presents cheque to Just a Drop

Kenya Tourist Board presented a cheque for £4,771.60 to Fiona Jeffrey OBE, Founder of charity Just a Drop.

The cheque totalled the proceeds raised by the tourist board through an online auction which featured a variety of prizes from hotel stays in the UK, to a year’s supply of Kenyan roses to a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to Kenya.

Angie Sloan, Regional Director of Kenya Tourist Board presented the cheque to Fiona Jeffrey, Founder of the charity and Chairman of World Travel Market who recently collected her OBE for services to the tourism industry from Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace.

The Kenya Tourist Board online charity auction was set up to raise funds for Just a Drop and was launched at World Travel Market 2011 with the deadline for bids closing just before Christmas.

Just a Drop was launched in 1998 and has since undertaken 98 water aid projects and helped over one and a half million children and their families across 29 countries. Their mission statement is ‘Safe Water = Saved Lives’. Since 2005 Just a Drop has funded many projects in Kenya, providing water and sanitation facilities including a Rainwater Harvesting Project at three Schools in the Kibwezi District and the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for two primary schools in Ruiru.
