Jumeirah’s new retail site provides full access for disabled users
Jumeirah Retail, the dedicated retail division of the Dubai-based luxury hotel management company, Jumeirah Group, is proud to announce that its website, www.jumeirahcollection.com, is now accessible for online customers with a range of disabilities after being accredited by British charity Shaw Trust. It is the first website in the GCC Region to receive this certification.
Websites seeking Shaw Trust accreditation must comply with strict criteria and strenuous auditing procedures. In order to qualify, the website had to undergo complete re-development on both front and back-end.
Marcel Hendriks, General Manager of Retail, commented: “We are extremely pleased to have secured this important accreditation. After a comprehensive but very rewarding process, jumeirahcollection.com is now completely accessible by people with the following disabilities: No vision, low vision, colour blindness, dyslexia, deafness, mobility impairment and learning difficulties.”
The significance of this certification was confirmed by Shaw Trust who noted that this is an extremely important tool, as people with certain disabilities can find it difficult or even impossible to access, navigate, or read the content of a web page if the information isn’t presented correctly.
Jumeirahcollection.com includes a variety of luxury consumer goods suitable for a range of needs including home and office, entertainment, personal clothing and accessories. In addition to luxury products, future Jumeirah guests can use the website to coordinate their visits to a hotel with Jumeirah’s exclusive pre-arrival service, which enables guests to stock their rooms and suites with their essential holiday items that are heavy and tend to take up space when travelling. The collection also offers special promotional packages for holidays, relaxation and adventure, incorporating the luxury service of Jumeirah’s world renowned properties and facilities.
The initiative to receive Shaw Trust accreditation has been adopted by Jumeirah Retail’s parent company, Jumeirah Group, who will re-launch its Jumeirah.com website in 2009 and will seek to obtain the Shaw Trust Accreditation.
