Jumeirah Group appoints two new general managers
Jumeirah Group, the Dubai-based luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, has announced the appointment of new General Managers for two of its properties.
British national, Mark Griffiths joins Jumeirah Group as the newly appointed General Manager of Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa, Kuwait.
Mark began his career in Hampshire, England, working as a Management Trainee at Tylney Hall Hotel before joining Le Meridien Piccadilly hotel in London in 1990. Mark held various managerial positions with Le Meridien hotels and resorts over a 14 year period in the UK, Thailand and Indonesia.
In 2004 he moved to Singapore as the General Manager of The Sentosa Resort & Spa. Mark joins Jumeirah Group from Majid Al Futtaim properties in Dubai where he was Vice President Asset Management Hospitality.
Having worked in three continents, Mark brings a wealth of experience from diverse environments and will now be overseeing the preopening activities for the new Jumeirah hotel in Kuwait which is expected to open in 2012.
Marco Metge has been appointed Acting General Manager for Jumeirah Grand Hotel via Veneto, Rome, the management of which is handled by Jumeirah from mid-January 2012. A German national, Marco joined Jumeirah Group in 2004 as Front Office and Revenue Manager in Jumeirah Beach Club Resort & Spa, then moved on to various managerial positions Jumeirah’s operations in Dubai and London. In 2010 he was appointed pre-opening Director of Operations in Jumeirah Frankfurt in Germany.
Marco started his hotelier apprenticeship in Mövenpick Hannover Airport Hotel in Germany in 1994. After three years he moved to Hyatt international in Germany before completing his graduate education in Hospitality Management in IHK Hotel Management Academy.
