Jordan waives departure tax to Aqaba

Departure tax for tourists travelling in groups to Jordan flying into the Red Sea resort of Aqaba will be waived until next year as part of wider efforts to boost visitors to the destination the tourism board has announced.

Groups flying on low cost carriers and charter flights into Aqaba’s King Hussein Airport will no longer be required to pay the departure tax of 40JOD (£34) per person until February 26th 2015 following a decision made by the ministry of finance.

Located at Jordan’s southernmost tip, the country’s beach resort of Aqaba has seen significant investment over the last decade with a number of luxury waterfront developments in the pipeline and the opening of new hotels.
