Introducing the new Visit California Ipad App

Available now in the App Store, Visit California is putting the majestic landscapes and energetic culture of California, one of the world’s top tourist destinations, at travelers’ fingertips with the launch of a new iPad appâ. Filled with lush photography, editorial features and useful planning tools, the Visit California iPad app was developed by a team of California travel experts from Visit California and Sunset magazine. The app also contains an enhanced and interactive version of the California Official State Visitors Guide that brings the best of California to life through inspiring articles, slideshows, and videos. A highlight of the enhanced Visitors Guide is a series of videos featuring Rob Lowe sharing his favorite things about California.

The Visit California iPad app gives travelers everything they need to plan the ultimate California vacation with the following features:

  A “My Trip” tool to create a personal itinerary based on recommendations from California’s travel experts, plus location-based information from Google Maps, and restaurant reviews from Yelp.
  A “Trip Journal” to save notes and photos from the road. And the ability to share travel ideas and information on Facebook and Twitter.
  An enhanced version of the California Official State Visitors Guide, featuring videos, slideshows, and other unique content from the editors of Sunset
  magazine and Visit California.

In conjunction with the launch of Visit California’s free iPadâ app, a new mobile website was designed specifically to provide the most relevant and important information to help Smartphone users focus on planning their visit to California.

Users can get inspired about favorite destinations while browsing magazine-style feature stories developed by Sunset magazine’s editorial team. A “My Trip” interactive itinerary planning tool offers users the ability to create and save their own trips as well as travel tools that link to resources for everything from California airport codes to classic bike rides and RV rentals to the 20 California Welcome Centers. Travelers can use the real time calendar to find local festivals and events throughout the state, or watch videos on California while getting real time updates from the Visit California Twitter Feed.

Whether on the iPad or mobile phone, the Visit California mobile platform provides inspiration and information to California travelers—for free.  IPad users can
download the app from the App store at www.itunes.com/appstore/ by searching “Visit California.” The new mobile website is available for all Smartphone platforms, including iPhoneand Android, and automatically loads when consumers use their Smartphone to access visitcalifornia.com.
