Homewood Suites announces three new Canada agreements

Homewood Suites announces three new Canada agreements

Homewood Suites by Hilton, the international brand of upscale, all-suite, residential-style hotels, continues its strong year in Canada with the announcement of three new signed hotel agreements. Coupled with three additional agreements earlier this year, the brand’s Canada portfolio has grown by 60% in 2012.  The recent new property announcements will bring Homewood Suites’ first property to Manitoba, in addition to two more properties in Ontario.

“Homewood Suites’ focus on Canada demonstrates our commitment to this international market and the opportunity that we believe exists for the extended-stay segment,” said Bill Duncan, global head, brand management, Homewood Suites by Hilton.  “Expanding our footprint into Manitoba, we are excited that this property will be built utilizing elements of Homewood’s new Generation 9 prototype.  The new model provides developers greater site flexibility and construction savings, two things that will let us continue our expansion in Canada.”

New Canada agreements include:

Homewood Suites by Hilton Winnipeg West - Property featuring 112 rooms is slated to open in Q4 2013 and is owned by MLS Management Ltd.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Toronto-Ajax - Property featuring 104 rooms is slated to open in Q4 2014 and is owned by Tasico Hospitality Group
Homewood Suites by Hilton St. Jacobs - Property featuring 97 rooms is slated to open in Q4 2014 and is owned by Kingsbury Hospitality Group Inc.

Two of the three new properties to be completed (Winnipeg and St. Jacobs) will feature an adaptation of Homewood’s new Generation 9 (Gen9) prototype.  Gen9 allows developers to build a Homewood Suites property on a smaller site (20% land reduction and 12% building area) without having to sacrifice any amenities or compromise Homewood’s quality.  In fact, the new prototype is a more cost-effective model as construction costs are approximately 10-15% lower, and overall, the new prototype will save 4-6% per key.
