Grenada signs up for ICTP membership
The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) has confirmed the Grenada Board of Tourism has joined their alliance as the first representative from the Caribbean.
“Grenada is proud to be the first Caribbean representative to ICTP, and we look forward to sharing resources with our worldwide partners in the development of new markets for our tourism product,” said Simon Stiell, director of tourism for Grenada.
“As part of this global alliance, we share in the belief travel and tourism is a key driver in the creation of community businesses, jobs, well-being, and happiness.
“We also share ICTP’s commitment to green growth by creating low-carbon and environmentally-sound developments.”
After the Seychelles, La Reunion, Johannesburg, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Oman, Hawaii, Saipan, the International Council of Tourism Partners is now expanding their list of founding members to include Grenada.
ICTP chairman Juergen Steinmetz said: “We are delighted to welcome Grenada to our fast-growing alliance and force of socially-responsible destinations committed to sustainable travel.
“The synergy of the ICTP alliance will enable even the smallest destination to create ongoing awareness in both primary and secondary global tourism markets.
“Grenada demonstrates leadership for the Caribbean in joining our alliance.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Grenada and leaders representing all our members at the World Travel Market to introduce their destination.”
Tourism in the region will be celebrated by World Travel Awards later this month when Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay, Jamaica, plays hose to the annual Caribbean & the Americas Gala Ceremony.
